SkyeHelps offers in-person and online counseling individuals of all ages, couples, and families. Some common issues we help patients work through are anxiety, depression, abuse, grief, addiction, and trauma.
What is counseling?
Counseling (therapy) is primarily a relationship. Your relationship with your counselor (therapist) is similar to a relationship with a teacher, pastor, or coach. In those relationships, you receive information or guidance from someone who is trained specifically to help you with academics, theology, or a skill. Similarly, your therapist can guide you in understanding your beliefs, feelings/emotions, and your behavior (thoughts and actions).
Types of Counseling
Individual Counseling
Our clinicians offer counseling for individuals struggling with a wide range of mental health disorders and emotional challenges. We also love to help those who are seeking guidance in becoming the best version of themselves.
Our Licensed Professional Counselors offer clinical mental health counseling to every age, gender, and religious (or non-religious) affiliation. Our clinicians see adolescents and adults online and in person. We see children in person at our office in Dahlonega. We do not see children online.

Relationship Counseling
It’s normal for people to struggle with their relationships. Feelings are hard enough when they’re limited to our own little world. However, when we complicate things with another person who also has their own set of emotions and experiences, the situation can feel very overwhelming!
Almost every couple goes through a “rough patch” once in a while, but problems that are shoved into the backs of our minds and hearts only get worse with time. If you and your loved one(s) are in a marriage or other relationship that feels unhealthy or overwhelming, relationship counseling is a very worthwhile pursuit.
But why wait until there is a problem? Partners and families can benefit from a therapeutic alliance as a wellness practice designed to encourage healthy listening practices, regular check-ins with our partners, parents, or children, and facilitate big changes in our lives such as career moves, welcoming a new child into the home, or the emotional planning of elder-care.
Unfortunately, things sometimes go from bad to worse, and families can suffer. Separation and divorce ensue, and the “emotional baggage” piles up more than you could have ever imagined. Our focus is on healing, emotional growth, and moving forward.

Online Counseling
Generally, it’s best to work with clients in person, but there are situations that make face-to-face counseling sessions impractical, if not impossible. In these cases, we make use of the SimplePractice platform, which protects your privacy with extra layers of HIPPA-compliant encryption. We take your health and privacy seriously.
The most common question about online therapy is “is online counseling as effective as in-person counseling?” The second most common question is “is it the same price as in-person counseling?” The answer to both is “yes.” If you have other questions about online counseling, please reach out!
