Types of Therapy

Individual Counseling

We offer counseling for individuals struggling with a wide range of mental health disorders and emotional challenges as well as people seeking guidance or insight into how they may live fuller lives. When unhelpful feelings, thoughts, or behaviors become so intense that they disrupt our ability to function in the world or interact with other people in healthy, meaningful ways, it’s a good idea to seek help from a mental health professional such as a Licensed Professional Counselor. That’s where we come into the picture. We can help you learn to navigate anxietydepressiontrauma and PTSD, all kinds of addictions, eating disorders, relationship challenges, or an adjustment to a new situation such as marriage, divorce, retirement, or other big life changes.

Couples and Family Counseling

It’s normal for people to struggle with their relationships. Feelings are hard enough when they’re limited to our own little world, but when we complicate things with another person who also has their own set of emotions and experiences, the situation can feel very overwhelming!

Almost every couple goes through a “rough patch” once in a while, but problems that are shoved into the backs of our minds and hearts only get worse with time. If you and your loved one(s) are in a marriage or other relationship that feels unhealthy or overwhelming, marriage counseling or family counseling are very worthwhile pursuits.

But why wait until there is a problem? Partners and families can benefit from a therapeutic alliance as a wellness practice designed to encourage healthy listening practices, regular check-ins with our partners, parents, or children, and facilitate big changes in our lives such as career moves, welcoming a new child into the home, or the emotional planning of elder-care.

Unfortunately, things sometimes go from bad to worse, and families can suffer. Separation and divorce ensue, and the “emotional baggage” piles up more than you could have ever imagined. Our focus is on healing, emotional growth, and moving forward.

Online Counseling

Generally, it’s best to work with clients in person, but there are situations that make face-to-face counseling sessions impractical, if not impossible. In these cases, we make use of the SimplePractice platform, which protects your privacy with extra layers of HIPPA-compliant encryption. We take your health and privacy seriously.

The most common question about online counseling is “is it as effective as in-person counseling?” The second most common question is “is it the same price as in-person counseling?” The answer to both is “yes.” If you have other questions about online counseling, please give us a call at 706-864-5674 or Request Appointment. You can also join our online SMART Recovery Addictions Group on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm EST.
