Divorce Counseling

SkyeHelps Counseling & Wellness offers in-person and online divorce counseling for couples pre and post-divorce.

Divorce Counseling

Divorce counseling is a specialized form of therapy designed to help individuals, couples, and families navigate the emotional, psychological, and practical challenges of ending a marriage. Rather than trying to save the relationship, the primary goal is to process grief, reduce conflict, and build a healthy path forward.

How We Can Help

Divorce Counseling for Agreements and Parenting Plans

We help couples navigate a healthy divorce by meeting with them both individually and together. Our primary goal is to help you create mutually beneficial settlement agreements and practical parenting plans. Once you agree upon a clear plan, we send you back to your attorney for final drafts and court proceedings.

Co-Parenting Counseling and Coaching

We help parents learn to communicate effectively and easily comply with court parenting mandates. For example, coaching sessions often include establishing agreed-upon communication standards. We can also help you set up specific rules for using communication apps like Our Family Wizard.

Communication Training for Couples and Families

We work with couples and families to help them learn how to listen actively and make each other feel understood. As a result, you will understand your own interpersonal dynamics much better. This training allows you to articulate your needs clearly and respectfully ask for what you want.

Specialized Parenting Plans for Special Needs Children

Neurodivergent children have unique needs and developmental paths compared to neurotypical children. Because of this, generally accepted parenting plans do not always support their nervous systems. Creating a custom parenting plan with their specific needs in mind is critical for healthy long-term development.

Child Development Psychoeducation

Sometimes, parents struggle to understand their children’s developmental limitations or abilities. Therefore, we meet with parents to educate them about appropriate age-based expectations. We also teach positive disciplinary techniques and show you how to help your child navigate major developmental milestones.

Guardian-Ad-Litem (GAL) Collaboration

Guardians-Ad-Litem frequently reach out to us for professional consultations or refer specific cases to our practice. In this role, we strictly follow the court order for counseling, psychoeducation, reunification, or evaluation. Please note that we require clients to sign a Release of Information so we can share updates and impressions with the GAL.
